Named after Reverend Robert Knopwood ‘Bobby’ to his friends - Tasmania’s first clergyman and magistrate in 1804.
Rev Knopwood has known as a kind and active preacher who toured his parish on horseback and gave sermons across southern Tasmania. He certainly enjoyed his English ‘cuppa’ however his liquor bills did provide plenty of evidence of his conviviality. He entertained generously and often dined at Government House. It is written he could not balance his books nor his lust for women. Tut Tut your Honour.
